A Capella singing quartet from Saint Petersburg, Russia, performed during and after services at the Church of the Apostles in Coppell, Texas on May 6, 2017, and April 29, 2018.
There are just as many music groups in Saint Petersburg, if not more than there are orchestras. Each one performs their own unique music for audiences and gives insight to the music of all kinds. From the rich choral tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church to folk with a contemporary twist, the varied groups augment the rich palette of music in the city.
Many members of these groups receive their training at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and other music schools throughout Russia. Camaraderie exists among the city musicians, many of whom know one another professionally and personally. Often, these groups are formed by members of the big orchestras to enable the musicians to play chamber and other types of music with their friends and colleagues.
This esteemed vocal ensemble produces new and fresh interpretations of many well-known choral works each year. Hence, each of its members has great working experiences with leading choirs of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
All members perform for Orthodox churches during the many beautiful liturgies of the Eastern tradition. Each of the singers professes a deep belief in the ministry of their musical works. They demonstrate a great understanding of the substance of the Divine Liturgies.
Each member of the quartet is a believer in the grace, beauty, and divine nature of the gift of song. The quartet engages the listener with an array of Russian folk songs, western classical music styles, and contemporary works by Russian and international composers.
Finally, the singing events capped a wonderful day at the Church of the Apostles.
