The 2016 Blessing and Celebration of the animals
It was a huge success as noted by the Adorable Pictures:
This custom remembers Saint Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures and has instituted the yearly Blessing of the Animals in remembrance of him. St. Francis (1182-1226) was a monk who founded the contemporary order of Franciscans. Among many attributes, St Francis maintained a special connection to animals along with his vow of poverty. A Blessing of Animals witnesses God’s and the Church’s love, care, and concern for creation. Therefore, as we recognize mankind’s mutual interdependence with God’s creatures, the Church’s stewardship of creation becomes strengthened. Hence, Episcopalians acknowledge their importance to both the faithful and God.
Finally, we look forward to everyone in the Coppell, Texas community to once again join us on next year on or about October 1, 2018, where we will once again celebrate Saint Francis with the Blessing of the Animals by Father Tim Cherry, the Rector of the Church of the Apostles located at 322 South MacArthur Blvd, Coppell, TX.
