Holy Baptism At Apostles
Infants, Children, & Adults – contact us now for more information
The sacrament of Baptism signifies God’s preexisting love for all His children, the forgiveness of sin, New Life in Christ, and formal entrance into the Church.
Following ancient tradition, we baptize adults; youth who can speak for themselves; and infants, when they have responsible adults raising them in the Christian faith.
When babies and young children are baptized, parents and sponsors take vows to raise the child in the Christian faith and life (NOT a promise to remain in our parish or denomination).
More importantly, parents and sponsors also take spiritual vows on behalf of babies and children. As children grow — in years and in faith — they later have the opportunity to “confirm” the same baptismal vows for themselves in the adult rite of confirmation with our bishop.
The Book of Common Prayer tells us that, “Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.”
Church of the Apostles is a vibrant spiritual community, a place of welcome and spiritual nurture for children and adults. We share in a happy day when a Baptism takes place and we stand ready to assist you and your family in the joys and challenges that may arise in the future.
There are four principal days for Baptism in the Episcopal Church:
- All Saints’ Sunday,
- The Baptism of Jesus,
- The Easter Vigil and
- Pentecost
With the exception of All Saints’ Sunday (the first Sunday after November 1st), these are “moveable” feasts. Easter is usually in April, Pentecost is 50 days after Easter, and the Baptism of Jesus is in January.
Other Saturday evenings or Sundays mornings may be available for Baptism, at a minimum of once per month, except during Lent or Advent.
Whether for infants, children, or adults, a preparatory conversation is required. We will be as flexible as possible to arrange the date for this wonderful occasion.
Please feel free to contact the Parish Office or Fr. Tim for more information at 972-462-0234.
We look forward to hearing from you!
